Ilyse has decided to enter the Bridal Auction to seek a husband, but it goes as well as expected. While she was found innocent, that doesn't seem to matter and she becomes Unclaimed.
Life among the Unclaimed isn't as expected. There are freedoms among the Unclaimed that Ilyse didn't expect and it seems like she'll be able to have some sort of life there.

The people in the settlement aren't willing to give up on their witch.....er...necromancer hunt. Everything comes to a head and Ilyse is forced to choose her future.
