COVER REVEAL FROM CLAIRE C. RILEY!

Claire is at it again! That's right, instead of telling us what's going on in the world of Nina and Mikey, she's decided to scare the hell out of us!

Blood Claim

What rests beneath the ground is not always asleep…

Mike Cooper has spent his life fruitlessly searching for gold in the great American West. Looking to finally make his fortune, he decides to risk everything and pack up his crew of fellow miners to head for the heart of gold-rich Ghana West Africa, where an opportunity arises that’s too good to ignore.
Leased a plot of land, Mike and his crew feel they’re on the cusp of success. Overrun by greed, they ignore all of the warning signs that something is dangerously wrong with the land they’re mining. And soon they discover that the time-worn ground holds secrets that are best left buried.
For nothing is as it seems in this forgotten world.
Terror lurks in the hearts of men who quickly learn that the stuff of nightmares is all too real and what starts as a new beginning, rapidly becomes a frightening ordeal of horror and bloodshed.
They signed the contract. They staked their claim. And now time is running out for them.
They wanted to find gold, but now they only want to keep their souls.
But the demon is awake, and he’s hungry…

The book will be released on May 4, 2018; so please make sure you have cancelled everything for the 4th and 5th because based on her pic, Claire is clearly up to something with this release!

Naturally, there will be randomness upon release of the book 😊

The Unblessed Dead

Imagine for a moment that the dead have taken over the world. The survivors have created a new world in which there is a different way of thinking. Everyone has taken on an extreme puritanical sensibility; which seems to boil down to if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it's evil and needs to be dealt with.

Nothing is as it seems though. When it comes to the walking dead, there are people who are able to "deal" with them. Necromancers are able to control the undead, but they are not seen as saviors. Only women are necromancers and it's believed they have aligned themselves with dark magic for their powers. So in most settlements, if you're found to be a necromancer, it's just not a good thing. Short sighted people in power is just not a good thing, kids.

Rhiannon Frater introduces us to Ilyse, a young woman living in Atonement Settlement with her family. Ilyse has spent her life trying to live according to the Lost Texts in order to ensure her Pious Standing. In her community, those who fail to maintain Pious Standing are shunted into Unclaimed status. Ilyse is doing everything possible to avoid Unclaimed status because she is the daughter of a confirmed necromancer. Her older sister escaped the settlement because she felt the people in charge were unenlightened twits.

Is Ilyse a hidden necromancer? Well that's not for me to reveal. My educated guess is Ilyse's journey isn't going to be an easy one, but the world will be greater for knowing her.

Beautiful Victim

Beautiful Victim is the newest release from Claire C. Riley....ok, you know what, I'm going to deviate a little bit. This book is just going to reach out, grab you, and not let you go until page 336. This is not a hyperbole, people!!!! I read this book on a road trip, starting it right as we hit the state line of Ohio. Before we hit Toledo, I had completed the book, and was just blown away.

The book opens with an introduction to Ethan. Not "here's this dude," but more like "hey, check out what you just stepped in to!"

Ethan didn't have the best life growing up, but he had a source of light that he clung to- a neighbor girl named Carrie. Ethan was never certain when he fell in love with her, but felt there was something there from the first time they meant. Except she didn't exactly remember things the way he did.

And there's the first red flag in regards to Carrie. Does Ethan care? Nope, she's his love, his light, and what he thinks makes his whole life bearable.

And Carrie? Well, she is what she is, but she's not the main character, so

In reality, Ethan lives in a small apartment with a red door. He works a job where he really isn't wanted, but he's good at it and reliable, so they put up with him.

One dark and stormy night (you have no idea how long I've been waiting for a chance to use that), Ethan happens to see Carrie. This throws his mind into overdrive. Carrie isn't supposed to be there.

When Ethan makes it home, his mind has gone into super mega overdrive. Is he seeing things? Has his mind finally snapped? He becomes driven to find the answers so everything will make sense again.

You know what happens when cats get curious? Sometimes they don't like the answers they get.

You know what happens when Ethan gets curious? You have to read the book to find out.
